Son of Geoffrey and Annie Irwin Harrison of Inverleigh, Victoria
LAC Harrison from Number 37 Squadron at Essendon aerodrome was killed on New Years’ day 1945
He was a passenger in a car that overturned near the corner of Bulla Road and Dublin Street in North Essendon after a wheel of the car struck a culvert. There were 7 people in the car - Richard Brookman (the driver of the car) and LAC Harrison were pronounced dead on arrival at the new Royal Melbourne Hospital
Another passenger, Sapper James Foote Smith NX68018 of 52 Port Craft Company Royal Australian Engineers, died the next day.
LAC Ernest James Oldknow RAAF 8590 suffered head injuries and was transferred to Heidelberg Military Hospital - he was discharged from the RAAF 27 Apr 1945
Also injured were Mr John Wilcox, Mrs Portbury and her son, Keith Portbury aged 6 years
