IN ACTION
WARRILL VIEW. Feb. 15th
Cr. J. P. Hayes, of Warrlll View, has been advised that his eldest son, Corporal Kevin P. Hayes. has been killed in action in New Guinea. Corporal Hayes served four years with the Remount Depot at Enoggera and Fort Lytton in the training of military horses. In April, 1940 he enlisted as a trooper in the 7th Division Cavalry Regiment and saw service in Palestine, Egypt, Cyprus, and Syria. He returned to Australia in April, 1942 and left for New Guinea in October, 1942. Shortly before, his regiment was ordered to New Guinea he married Miss Betty Carnegie, daughter of Major and Mrs. Carnegie, of Annerley. A younger brother Driver V. J. Hayes is a member ot an A.I.F. unit.
