Roswell Aubrey HEADLAM was born on 23rd August, 1917 in Launceston, Tasmania
His parents were David Aubrey HEADLAM and Lilla Gertrude BRUMBY - he had one sister Sheila Ainslie HEADLAM - his father David Aubrey served in WW1 (SN3108)
Roswell trained with the RAAF No. 7 Elementary Flying Training School in Tasmania & later on was with the 84 Squadron (Royal Air Force)
He died in a Flying Accident in Burma on 24th January, 1942 when the Blenheim IV he was piloting struck a crater when taking off for a raid on Bangkok. The bomber was wrecked and Roswell and the navigator Sergeant Odgers were killed, the gunner Flight Sergeant Farrer was severly injured.
He is buried in Rangoon War Cemetery and his name is memorialised at the Australian War Memorial and the Roll of Honour at Bellerive, Tasmmania
