Squadron Leader Peter Ronald Heath (# 87) of 3SQN RAAF was shot down seven miles east of Rabia (near Mersa Matruh) in the Egyptian Western Desert while flying Gloster Gladiator biplane N5750
A flight of Gladiator aircraft on a tactical reconnaissance were attacked by a force of eighteen Italian Air Force Fiat C.R.42 biplane fighters - in the ensuing dogfight Squadron Leader Heath was shot down and killed
