Letter from the King

Mrs. Norma Keat, of Ulmarra, yesterday received a short letter of sympathy from H.M. the King in the loss of her late husband, A/Sgt. F. Keat, A.I.F., who was accidentally killed recently. The letter was headed Buckingham Palace and read as follows: "The Queen and I offer you our heart¬felt sympathy in your great sor¬row. We pray that your coun¬try's gratitude for a life so nobly given in its service may bring you some measure of consolation. Ulmarra Soldier Accidentally Killed

Mrs. F. J. Keat, of Ulmarra, received a telegram from the Minister for the Army on Saturday morning stating that her husband, Sergt. F. J. Keat, A.I.F., had been accidentally killed on September 17.
Sergt. Keat is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Keat, of Ulmarra, formerly of Cowper, and was well known in cane cutting circles and road work. He was employed in the army as instructor in concrete road building. He married Miss Norma Jefferies, daughter of Ald. and Mrs. T. Jefferies, of Ulmarra. He is survived by his widow and small son Bob, and daughter Pam.
His wife and family left Ulmarra on Saturday to attend the funeral, which is being arranged by the military authorities. - The Daily Examiner, Grafton, issue dated Monday September 20, 1943.
