William Deldon Douglas KILLWORTH was born on 14th Feb. 1924 in "Montrose"- Nurse Munnings Private Hospital in Launceston, Tasmania
His parents were David KILLWORTH and Ella Louise BRIGGS
He enlisted with the RAAF on 25th May.1942 in Hobart and embarked from Adelaide on 4th August 1943 for the UK - he had previous service for 9 months in the Volunteer Defence Corp. Training
He was Killed in Action on 8th July 1944 whilst on operations over North West Europe , aged 20 years. At the time of his death he was serving with the RAF - Rank Flight Sergeant - Service No. 408443. He was serving with the 467 Squadron at the time
Williams final resting place is at Courgent Communal Cemetery in France
Flight Sergeant Killworth was the Air Gunner on Lancaster LM338 which took off from RAF Waddington on the night of the 7th July to bomb storage sites at St Leu D'Esserent, France.
Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. After the war it was established that the aircraft crashed at Courgent. All seven of the crew including Flt. Sgt. Killworth were killed and are now buried at Courgent Communal cemetery
