AC Lacey 68344 of Number 47 Radar Station RAAF died in a drowning accident at Geraldton, WA
His death is mentioned on page 473 of book “RAAF Historical Record of Number 4 Service Flying Training School Geraldton WA” compiled by D.J. Brenkley
Body Recovered. — Floating in the water some little distance from the beach the body of Brian Joseph Lacey, aged 19 years, of the R.A.A.F., was discovered on Monday morning. Lacey had been swimming at the Back Beach at the rear of Mahomet's Flat on Thursday afternoon last with a companion. They both had surf-boards and were in a heavy surf when Lacey suddenly disappeared. His companion summoned assistance and an extensive search was conducted by air and water and by patrols operating along the beach. The body was recovered about a mile-and a-half south of the spot where Lacey was last seen in the water.
A report on the matter has been forwarded to the coroner (Mr. K. H. Parker).
