Frederick Aloysius BEW was born in Melbourne during 1897 and joined the AIF on 15/7/1915 in Melbourne.
He deserted from the Army, but rejoined in Albury, NSW on 18/4/1917. He was allotted to the 14th Light Horse Regiment and left Sydney aboard the HMAT Port Sydney on 9/5/1917.
He gave his next of kin as his friend, James Leyden of "Avonleigh" Sunbury.
After service he returned to Australia on 28/8/1919 and was discharged on 24/9/1919.
In 1924 he was a patient at the Caulfield Reparriation Hospital, Melbourne.
In 1962 Fred was living at 31 Waverley Crescent Bondi Junction, NSW.
He died on 7/3/1982.
