Avro Lancaster heavy bomber LM748

On 4 Mar 1945 Lancaster LM748 (UG-H) from 1654 HCU was part of a diversionary force of ninety-five aircraft supporting main force operations but was shot down by an intruder aircraft at 01.05 hrs and dived into the ground at Stapleford Wood between Fulbeck and Newark. The aircraft was airborne from Wigsley. Sadly all the crew were killed.
