Wing Commander Donald James MacPherson 110 of RAAF Overseas Headquarters in London was aboard the Blue Star Line merchant ship MV Melbourne Star which was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-Boat in the Atlantic Ocean off Bermuda
83 Crew, 6 RN Gunners, 5 RANVR Officers and 23 Passengers were lost with this merchant ship. One of the passengers was possibly the wife of Wing Commander MacPherson: Pamela Yvonne MacPherson also of Kew, Victoria - Age 21
