Eric Gordon McGLINCHY was born in Manilla, NSW on 27th November, 1913
His parents were James Ernest McGLINCHY & Mary Elizabeth LANCASTER who married in Manilla in 1905
He enlisted in Newcastle with the 1st Infantry Training Battalion (6th Infantry Training Brigade and embarked on 29th July 1941 on the HMT Johan Van Oldenbarnevelt
Eric was Killed in Action in Malaya on 24th January, 1942 - no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Singapore Memorial in the Kranji War Cemetery
