Add my storyBiography contributed by David Barlow
Warrant Officer McLeod 406943 of 3SQN was shot down in Kittyhawk FL309 on the 3rd of August 1943 while performing a ground attack role against enemy transport in the Randazzo / Zaffarana area (Maletto and Bronte) of Sicily
His aircraft was hit by intense light anti-aircraft fire (flak) near Mount Etna but he was able to crash-land his aircraft and became a Prisoner of War
From there he was taken to the French mainland and held at the German base at Istres - which was unfortunately the target for an Allied bombing campaign launched on 17 August 1943
Doc McLeod received severe burns and died at a German Military Hospital in Arles, France
