His parents were Stuartson Collard METHVEN & Ruby Iris Cecelia COGAN who married on 12th June 1911 in Perth, Western Australia

His father Stuartson Collard METHVEN (SN 5871) served in the 17th Infantry Battalion during WW1 and returned to Australia in 1917
His brother Captain John Malcolm METHVEN (SN VX48690) served with the 2nd/23rd Infantry Battalion during WW2 and was Killed in Action in the Middle East on 22nd July, 1942 - he was a Prisoner of War
