The son of William and Sarah Harrington, of Rockhampton, Queensland. His younger brother 2396 Gunner T.E. Harrington, 14th Field Artillery Brigade, age 24, was killed in action only six weeks before William died. They had both enlisted together during late 1915. They are buried about 50 kilometers apart.
