Malcolm Douglas MOFFATT was born in Yarrowitch near Walcha on the northern tablelands of New South Wales, on 13 November 1920
Resident in Armidale, in northern New South Wales , he enlisted in the RAAF on 31 March 1941. Undertaking training as an Air Gunner under the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS) in Australia, Canada and England, Flight Sergeant MOFFATT was later posted to 625 Squadron RAF, operating Lancaster bombers.
On the night of 12/13 August 1944, Flight Sergemat MOFFATT's Lancaster, serial number ME733, radio call sign CF-Z, was shot down and crashed at Hollenstein, Germany after a raid over Brunswick Germany. He was killed alongside his six other crew members in the wreckage of their aircraft. He was 23 years old.
