Son of Mark Usher and Sarah Usher nee McNamambly of Bacchus Marsh, Victoria formerly from Burra, SA.
Brother of James Walter Henry Usher who returned to Australia on 18 April 1919 having served with the 27th Battalion and Alfred John Usher who returned to Australia on 20 August 1919 having served with the 3rd Motor Transport Company.
Commenced return to Australia on 8 November 1918 aboard HT Gaika disembarking on 29 December 1918
