Pilot Officer Campbell Alexander Morrison 430188 of Number 5 Squadron was killed when Boomerang A46-43 ran out of fuel during altitude tests and the pilot attempted to make an emergency landing on the road at Jaggan, about 3 miles from Malanda. The aircraft hit a tree stump killing the pilot. Boomerang A46-43 had been delivered to the RAAF in March 1943 (RAAF (CAC Constructor #866) CA-12)
