"...424782 Leading Aircraftman Desmond Moulton, No. 6 Squadron, of Sandgate Qld. He enlisted on 9 October 1942 and after training was promoted to the rank of Flying Officer (FO). No. 6 Squadron was a general reconnaisance unit which from August 1942 flew missions between Horn Island, Queensland, and Milne Bay, New Guinea. They dropped supplies to Australian troops at Buna, Ioma, Kokoda and Baibara Island. They also took part in medical evacuations as well as conducting seaward reconnaisance, anti-submarine patrols and bombing raids. FO Desmond Moulton was killed in action over New Guinea on 11 April 1945. He was 24 years of age." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
