Kenric Newton Lathrop MURRAY was born in Melbourne, Victoria on 23rd October, 1921

His parents were Hugh Dynnyme Lathrop MURRAY & Eila Isabel CALVERT who married in Victoria in 1918 - his father was previously married in 1898 to Mary Ann MacINNES & was widowed

His mother Eila was a Nurse in WW1 with the 1st Australian General Hospital & returned to Australia on 25th August, 1917

His father Hugh was a Medical Practitioner and served as a Captain in WW1

Kenric had served for 4 years in the Melbourne Grammar School Cadet Corp before he enlisted on 23rd June, 1940 in Melbourne with the Royal Australian Air Force as Air Crew

He embarked from Sydney on 3rd October, 1940 for Overseas Service and was discharged from the RAAF on 10th October, 1941 on being granted a Commission to Sergeant on 12th February, 1941

Kenric died in a Flying Battle on 10th March, 1942 near Dingli, Malta when he was attacked by enemy action while in a Spitfire AB343

He crashed at Dingli at 2.40pm and was taken to hospital and died shortly afterwards from multiple injuries

He is buried in the Malta Capuccini Naval Cemetery and his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Roll of Honour in Toorak, Melbourne
