He was 25 and the son of Ernest Alfred and Ruby Myrtle Palmer, of Benalla, Victoria, Australia.

Also killed in this incident was his countryman, Sergeant Roy John Jabour, Service Number 402956, aged 22 and he rests in the adjacent grave.
