Harvard 2987 of Number 1 Service Flying Training School (1SFTS) RCAF based at Camp Borden crashed on Lake Simcoe near Big Bay Point in Ontario, Canada during an instrument training flight

Leading Aircraftman Gordon John Powell 441451 RAAF (pupil pilot) and Flying Officer James Martin (Instructor) J/38065 RCAF were killed
