Lockheed Hudson A16-190 of 32SQN crashed into the sea off the Beverley Islands (part of the Northumberland Group) south-east of the city of Mackay while carrying out a convoy escort anti-submarine patrol for HMAS Swan - all crew were lost:
Pilot Officer John Desmond Power 416230 - Son of Francis and Mary Power of Reade Park, SA (body recovered by the crew of HMAS Swan, buried in Townsville War Cemetery)
Flying Officer Arthur Ernest Adams 692 - Son of Arthur George and Dora Emily Adams (body not recovered, he is memorialised on the Panel 5 of the Sydney Memorial)
