Sergeant Scribner 411392 in Kittyhawk EV322 of 3SQN was killed when his aircraft was shot down 10 miles south-west of El Alamein - his body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt
He was in a group of eight aircraft from 3SQN scrambled with twenty-eight others of 239 Wing to intercept enemy aircraft 10 miles south-west of El Alamein where they met a force of over 40 Messerschmitt 109 fighters
