SHELTON, of Avenel who has been killed in action, was farming at Avenel prior to his enlistment last year. He was a fine footballer and played with St. Kilda, and at the time of joining the A.I.F. was captain of the Avenel team.
A good all-round sportsman, Lieut. Shelton was associated with all sporting clubs in the district.
Aged 38, he leaves a widow, who is a sister of Mrs. H. Flood, 512 Guinea St., Albury, and two young sons. He was educated at Brighton Grammar School and later at Dookie Agricultural College. He also held a commission in the 20th Light Horse Regiment for a number of years.
