"News was received this week that Private Rex SUTHERLAND had been killed in action on 17th April. Private SUTHERLAND was born at Riddell 39 years ago and was the son of Mrs, and the late George, SUTHERLAND. He was the nephew of the Misses C. and L. SUTHERLAND, of Riddell post office, and was educated at Riddell School and Kyneton High School, after which he left to work in Melbourne. Prior to his enlistment he was employed by the State Electrcity Commission. Private SUTHERLAND leaves a wife and child, who will no doubt be greatly comforted by the knowledge that he paid the surpreme sacrifice in gallantly serving his King and country"
