DEATH OF SISTER
CYNTHIA THIEDEKE
WITH THE A.I.F. ABROAD
On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Thiedeke, Beaudesert, received the sad news that their sister, Cynthia Mabel Thiedeke, of the A.I.F. Nursing Staff, had died of illness abroad. Cynthia, who was the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Thiedeke, late of Beaudesert, but now of Wellington Point, was born at Maroochy River 27 years ago. She was quite young when the family came to Beaudesert, and
she received her primary education at Beaudesert State School, later going to Stott's College. In 1935 she entered upon her professional career by commencing training at the Brisbane General Hospital. At the conclusion of her training she joined the A.I.F., and it is twelve months today since she went abroad. Before leaving Australia she became engaged to be married to Driver E. Dean, also of the A.I.F., who is now back in Australia after serving in the Middle East.
Those who have known Cynthia know her as one possessed of a most happy and kind disposition. As a nurse she was wonderfully successful, and several who were in her care during illness speak highly of her noble character which made her such an excellent nurse. Her parents have received several letters from soldiers who were nursed by her, and they all speak in the highest terms of the kindness she showed them. One Beaudesert member of the A.I.F. was numbered among her patients. In addition to her parents, Cynthia leaves four sisters and two brothers. They are Mrs. G. Hall (Brisbane), Mrs. J. M. Hart (Upper Coomera), Mrs. L. N. Siemon (Ashgrove), Mrs. R. Gillard (Sydney), Clive Thiedeke (Beaudesert), and Jack Thiedeke (A.I.F.) .
