PERSONAL PARS
A/B. Eric William Thompson, of 126 Albert road, was on H.M.A.S. 'Perth'
when she was sunk. After many months of anxiety his mother has received a card stating Eric is a prisoner-of-war in Japanese hands, but in good health. - from the Record, 02 October 1943 (nla.gov.au)
Sadly this information was out of date. Eric had died from Malaria four months earlier.
