Son of William James Tomkins and Lily Mary Pelham Tomkins; husband of Nancy Mary Tomkins, of Whetstone, Queensland.
HIS DUTY NOBLY DONE
Death of Lieut. H. B. Tomkins.— Advice was received here on Monday that Lieut. H. B. Tomkins, son of Mr. and the late Mrs. W. B. Tomkins, of Whetstone Station, had been killed in action in the New Guinea Area. The late Lieut. Tomkins transferred to the A.I.F. from the Light Horse Regiment
and embarked for the Middle East in October, 1941. On his return here early last year, he spent, several months at various centres and some time ago left for the northern battle zone. He was in his late thirties and had resided all his life in the Inglewood district. Just prior to his departure for the Middle East he married iMiss Nancy Reid, of Sydney who survives him. In addition he is survived by his father, Mr, W. J. Tomkins, four sisters, Mesdames John Mort (Stanthorpe) and Max Cay (Whetstone); Misses Molly Tomkins and Des Tomkins (A.W.A.S.), and Mr. Alick Tomkins, his only brother.
