Flying Officer Kenneth Watts 420315 of 56 Squadron RAF was killed when Hawker Tempest EJ522 was shot down near Bremen / Minden, Germany - his body was not recovered and he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial
56SQN was part of 122 Wing, 2TAF flying out of B.60 airstrip at Grimbergen in Belgium - it was the equal highest scoring Tempest unit with 59 confirmed victories along with 486 (NZ) SQN
