Ivor was one of 10 children of Charles James Whitehouse Jnr of Laidley Queensland and Ethel Florence Whitehouse nee Porter daughter of George Porter and Marianne Sargent.
Ivor was one of four sons of Charles and Ethel who served in World War II seeing action in the Middle East before serving in New Guinea. He was missing presumed killed in action in the Battle of Sanananda and Buna on 19 December 1942 one day after his brother Frank Whitehouse was killed in the same battle. His brothers Ben and Charles (Bon) survived the war. He was married in 1941 to Mary Hodges. His resting place has yet to be discovered. He is lovingly remembered by his great nephews and nieces and their descendants.
