Biography contributed by Louise Roy

Flt Sgt Allen Howard Wilson was born in Tungamah, Victoria, in 1914, the son of farmers. The family moved to West Wyalong where they were farming at Weja. While serving in the RAAF he met ACW Ena Alice Messner, also from West Wyalong, and they married in early 1943. A few weeks later Allen was sent to the U.S.A. for training and then on to Lincolnshire, England, where he joined 101 Squadron Bomber Command as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner. On 18th March 1944 his mother Rachael died aged only 56 and twelve days later, on 30th March 1944, Flt Sgt Wilson was killed returning from a bombing mission over Nuremburg. His plane came down in Welford, Berkshire.
