Biography

Aubrey Clifford ZINN was born in Capetown, South Africa on 29th November, 1906

His parents were Christian & Winifred ZINN

He enlisted in Nyngan , New South Wales on 28th May, 1940

He was a Sapper with the Royal Australian Engineers AIF 2/6  Field Company

He was one of over 2000 Allied Prisoners of War held in the Sandakan POW camp in North Boreno having been transferred there afer being captured in Java,  Sapper Zinn, aged 37 died as a prisoner of the Japanese on 20th November, 1944 in Labuan.

Cause of death was Malaria and Beri Beri

He is memoralised in the Labuan Memorial Maylasia , Panel 5
