Walter Melrose ELLIS was born in Paddington, Sydney, New South Wales in 1872
His parents were William ELLIS & Agnes McLENEHAN who married in Sydney on 25th April, 1863
Walter died on board the ship SS Harlech Castle near Fremantle, WA en route home from South Africa of pneumonia and was buried at sea
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial, a Memorial tablets at St Johns Presbyterian Church, Paddington & a Memorial stone at Waverley Cemetery in Sydney
