Add my storyBiography
Private Stuart Barnett aged 21 of Busselton, Western Australia was a fencing contractor prior to being called up for National Service in 1967. He was posted to 4RAR and sailed with the Battalion to South Vietnam in May 1968.
During Operation TOAN THANG 2 in Bien Hoa Province on 27 June 1968, 12 Platoon contacted a group of five VC. During the initial engagement Stewie was killed. The enemy broke contact and withdrew into a creek line. 12 Platoon began a search of the creek and in less than two hours, flushed the enemy from the creek killing two and wounding another one. Two fresh graves were found nearby a few days later. The avenging of the first fatality of 4RAR in South Vietnam was accomplished.
