Geoffrey O'shea Geoff (Rick) O’Shea was born in Queensland on 11 November 1946. He enlisted in the Army on 3 December 1963 and was allocated to the Royal Australian Signals. He underwent SAS selection in 1966 and was posted to SASR on 28 April 1966. Rick came from 2nd Signals Regiment with the rank of Signaller but transferred to the Royal Australian Infantry after completing SAS selection. Rick died on 1 October 1967 from complications of encephalitis which he contracted while serving in South Vietnam. Rick’s next-of-kin at the time of his death was his father.
