Private Charles George Adcock (Service No:Q209174) served in the ACMF with 12th Battalion VDC from 12 April 1942 to 2 August 1943. Private Adcock had previously served in the Cadets (1917 to 1921) and with the Light Horse (1921 to 1923).
Born in 1903 in Gympie QLD, Charlie was the youngest of four children of George Adcock (b1860 in Norfolk, England) and Emily Jane Lorensen (nee Fittell; b1866 in Kent, England). Emily immigrated in 1876, arriving in Brisbane QLD on board the Gauntlet and George, an Agricultural Labourer, arrived in Maryborough, QLD in 1888 on board the Eastminster. George worked as a Farm Labourer and in 1893 he and Emily married in Gympie, QLD. The couple settled at Eel Creek in Kilkivan QLD where they raised their family and George was a Farmer.
Charlie worked in Eel Creek, Kilkivan as a Dairy Farmer, and in 1934 in Gympie, QLD he married Gertrude (Gertie) Maud Barsby (b1902 in Gympie, QLD. The couple settled at Eel Creek and had relocated to Gunalda nr Tiaro QLD by 1949 where Charlie was a Farmer. In the mid 1960s they moved to Maroochydore, QLD and in 1980 Charlie was at Mundrabilla on the Nullabor in WA when he died. Gertie died in 1995.
