John Bond.
John Bond, Lance Corporal, Driver, No.23 and 1913,15th Battalion. Corporal Bond was born at Nth. Rockhampton, and was educated at Mt. Morgan. He is a son of the late John Bond and the late Catherine Bond. He married Mabel Victoria Argent, of Macdougall Street, Milton. Enlisted 19th January, 1915, and left Australia with the 15th Battalion on the 15th April, 1915. He went to Egypt to complete his training. Went into action at Suvla Bay on the 8th August, 1915, and was wounded in the left leg. Was invalided home in December, 1915. Discharged February 16, 1916, medically unfit. He reenlisted in March, 1916, and sailed with the 11th Machine Gun Coy. on the 3rd June, 1916. He was discharged on the 9th May, 1919. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medall.
