Sergeant John Arnold Carlson (Service No:Q269776) enlisted in the ACMF as a Private attached to 2/1 Base Workshops on 14 July 1942 and was classified 3rd Engine Hand and Stoker. He served with 1 Tank Workshop and was a Sergeant attached to 2nd/1st Base Workshop when he was Discharged on 7 December 1945.

Born in 1912 at Laidley on the Darling Downs in QLD, Jack was the eldest of three children of John Bernard Carlson (b1887 at Plainland in Laidley on the Darling Downs, QLD) and Grace Morgan (b1890 in Thornton, QLD). John (a Labourer) and Grace married in 1911 in Laidley where they lived before settling in Southport, QLD in the early 1920s - John worked as a Labourer.

Jack worked as a Labourer and Electrical Labourer in Southport, QLD and in 1939 married Mary Louise Huth (b1912 in Southport QLD). Jack and Mary settled in Southport and following his service with the ACMF, Jack worked as an Electrical Labourer and Electrical Linesman at Tallebudgerra Creek in Southport and Coolangatta. Jack died in 1957 and Mary in 2000.
