Private Ernest Edward Malmgreen (3384), born at South Australia and educated at Melbourne. In August, 1915, he enlisted and after training for a while at
Blackboy, sailed for Egypt with the 12th Battalion. On his arrival he transferred to the 112th Howitzer Battery. He was on Lemnos Island at the time of the evacuation, but crossed with the Battery to France, where they were attached to the Black Watch, with whom they saw some very heavy fighting, including the Somme Fronts. He was also in the retreat from Robue, and only received some very slight wounds
the whole time he was away. In May, 1919, he returned to Australia...
