'In the 15th Australian Infantry Brigade's operation on the 26th instant at POLYGON WOOD, Private BUSH R.M. was one of a detachment of this Battery which was attached to a company of the 59th Battalion. This Company was on the right flank of our Brigade attack. When the 59th Battalion had captured their objective, this detachment 'dug in' with them. Later in the day movement was observed on the right and slightly in front of the detachment's position, knowing that the Brigade on our right had not advanced that far, Private BUSH, in face of the heavy artillery and Machine gun fire, crawled out from his gun emplacement, to see if the movement was caused by the enemy or some of our own men who had lost their direction. Having discovered that the movement was caused by an enemy post. Private BUSH crawled back and directed the fire of his Trench Mortar. lave five of the enemy were found dead in the post.'
