The three enlisted sons of Albert and Lucy French (nee Donaldson) of Crows Nest, Queensland:-

QX41220 Gunner Eric Donaldson French - returned to Australia;

QX1071 Cpl. John Alexander French VC (/explore/people/628698) - killed in Action at Milne Bay, New Guinea on 4 September 1942;

425147 F/Sgt. Gordon Albert French (/explore/people/628697) - killed in Flying Battle over Germany on the 11 August 1943.

Gunner Eric Donaldson French began military service on 12 January 1942. when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Artillery. He was a 30 year old hairdresser, son of Albert French. His service number was QX41220 (Q104688). He spent until 24 September 1942 in the Citizen Military Forces (CMF) and then from 28 September 1942 until 12 September 1945 in the Australian Military Force (AMF). He saw no overseas duty but was posted to Coastal Artillery at Thursday Island and Townsville.
