Son of Douglas Champ Oakes and Harriet Ann Oakes nee Kemp of Wingham, Manning River, QLD formerly of Frederickton, NSW.
Commenced return to Australia on 6 June 1918 aboard HT Barambah disembarking on 31 July 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane
