DUTY NOBLY DONE
Private E. S. Babidge, of C Company, 5th Battalion. 2nd Infantry Brigade, who has been wounded at the Dardanelles, is 21 years of age. He was born at Heathcote here his parents still reside, and prior to enlisting was employed at the Mount Camel estate for four years. He was a member of the Heathcote Rifle Club, and was a first-class rifle shot.
After being wounded at Gallipoli he returned home.
Private E. S. Babidge, who was wounded in the shoulder at the Dardanelles, and arrived in Melbourne on Monday, returned to Heathcote yesterday. There was a large crowd at the station which was brightly decorated. Addresses of welcome were given by Cr. .T. J. Farley, president of the Shire of Mclvor, and Rev. W. M. Madgwick. Private Babidge was then driven to his home by motor car.
Elias then re-enlisted and again served in the AIF where he died of wounds in France in 1918.
