Hamilton Maccabe MEREWETHER was born on 25th May, 1896 in Sydney
His parents were Henry Alfred Mitchell MEREWETHER and Edith MacCABE who married in 1890 in Sydney
Hamilton served as a Lieutenant with the British Army in WW1 from 1915 to 1919 & was promoted to Captain - he was with the Royal Field Artillery (Special Reserves) attached to the 97th Battery
The London Gazette (18th June, 1917) - he is awarded the Military Cross & was then serving in the Royal Field Artillery - no further details known
He maried Ruth Emilie Southey WILSON in 1928 at St Aubans Church in Quirindi, NSW
He enlisted for WW2 on 1st November, 1940 and served as a Lieutenant with the Citizens Military Forces - he was promoted to Captain on 25th July, 1940 from the R & O with regimental seniority to Docks Officer, Sydney Docks, Control Attachment
He was discharged on 9th May, 1946 - posting at Discharge 3 M.C. GRP
Hamilton died on 2nd August, 1986 in Pullenvale, Queensland aged 90 years and was cremated at Mt. Thompson Memorial Gardens, Queensland
His brother Christopher Maccabe MEREWETHER served in the Royal Australian Navy
