Lance Corporal Ronald William Rix (Service No:QX50051) initially enlisted in the ACMF on 26 March 1941 as a Signalman (Service No:Q1191) and served with Fortress Signals Brisbane and Northern Command Signals. Signalman Rix embarked from Townsville for Port Moresby on board the Duntroon on 8 December 1942 and was at Five Mile in New Guinea when he Discharged to enlist in the AIF on 11 March 1943. Promoted to Lance Corporal in 1945, he served with Corps of Signals in Morotai (September 1945 - November 1945) and was attached to 34 Signals at Discharge on 10 December 1945.

Born in 1919 in Brisbane QLD, Ron was the eldest of five children of Edgar Gilbert Rix (b1891 at Lanefield, Ipswich, QLD) and Ilean Eliza Seawright (b1896 in Brisbane, QLD). Edgar (a Machinist) and Ilean married in Brisbane in 1918 - Edgar worked as a Machinist until his death in 1934.

Ron worked as a Joiner in Brisbane before enlisting in the ACMF in 1941. He married Valda Allan (b1920 in Brisbane, QLD) in 1942 and following his Discharge, the couple lived in Brisbane where Ron worked as a Carpenter. In the 1950s the family lived in Maryborough and Roma where Ron worked as a Carpenter before moving to Cairns in the early 1960s where Ron was a Building Inspector. By 1972 Ron and Valda had returned to Maryborough where Ron was a Railways Inspector until his death in 1984. Valda died in 2018.
