CATHEDRAL CANON
The Rev. C. H. Edwards

The appointment of the Rev. Cecil Howard Edwards as a Canon of St. John's Cathedral was announced, yesterday by the Bishop Administrator (Bishop H. H. Dixon). Canon Edwards, who Is principal of the Bush Brotherhood of St. Paul, commenced his ministry in North Queensland. From 1906 to 1908 he was a curate at Charters Towers, and for the followlng two years he was a mission chaplain attached to the Diocese of Brisbane. He received Priest's Orders in Brisbane in 1910, and was curate of Holy Trinity Church, Woolloongabba, in 1909 and 1910, and of All Saints', Charleville from 1910 to 1913. In the latter year he became Rector at Woolloongabba, and remained there until 1925, except for the period when he served as a chaplain of the Australian Imperial Forces from 1916 to 1919. From 1925 to 1927 he was domestic chaplain to the Archbishop of Brisbane. He was then appointed principal of the Bush Brotherhood of St. Paul, responsible for its discipline, its organisation, and its activities. One of his most out-standing achievements has been the establishment of hostels for boys and girls at Charleville.

Canon Edwards is at present in Brisbane, and will sail by the Macdhui on Saturday on a health cruise to New Guinea.
