28 Aug 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, At Heerleville, East of Amiens, on the 17 August, 1918, this man acting as first Bomber, showed great dash and courage when an enemy bombing party was encountered. After his Bayonet Man was wounded he led his party in the face of heavy bombing and drove the enemy back inflicting many casualties. When enemy counter attacked later he again led the party and drove the enemy back inflicting further casualties. This man by his dash throughout the operation infused a splendid spirit into the men of his party and was largely instrumental in the success of the local operation. Son of Alfred Thomas Adams and Eliza Adams nee Piert of Police Road, Springval, Victoria
Brother of James Adams who returned to Australia on 12 May 1918 having served with the 23rd Battalion and Frederick James Adams who was killed in action on 25 or 26 March 1917 while serving with the 13th Light Horse Regiment and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial
Commenced return to Australia on 31 December 1918 aboard HT Marmari disembarking on 4 February 1919
