Biography

Enlisted for the Sudan War in 1885, as part of the Colonial Military Forces NSW Contingent.  With the Service Number of 2, and rank of Sergeant, he departed NSW on the SS Iberia on the 3 Mar 1885, and returned to Australia on the SS Arab on the 23 Jun 1885.

Received Khedive's Star, Meritous Service Medal, & the Queens South Africa Medal with four clasps

 

"DEATH OF CAPTAIN ROUSE.  

Captain T. H. Rouse, formerly of the Royal Australian Artillery, died at his residence, "Homersfield" Carrington-street, Lewisham, on Monday. He was on the retired list, and had filled the position of regimental quarter-master of the R.A.A., at Sydney for a number or years. For many years he was prominent in the National Rifle Association's annual prize meetings at Randwick and supervised the work of the association's statistical department. The deceased officer was recently granted a small pension. The funeral will take place this afternoon, and the internment will be at the Baptist Cemetery, Necropolis." - from the Sydney Evening News 28 Feb 1911 (nla.gov.au)

 

"THE LATE CAPTAIN T. H. ROUSE,

Whose death occurred at his residence, "Homersfield," Lewisham, last week. He left the Royal Artillery, and coming to Sydney over 30 years ago, joined the permanent forces of this State. He served in the Soudan War in 1886, and in the South African War in 1900. He retired from the Commonwealth forces at the age of 55.
