Henry William Bennett was born on 2 Sep 1877, a son to Henry William Bennett and Janet Sophia Bennett (nee Richardson) and prior to the war was working as a farmer around Warwick Qld. After returning from the Boer War in 1901 he returned to farming in Inglewood, Qld. He married Sarah Florence Gray on 7 Jan 1903 and they would go on to raise 12 children.
