Edward Bowcock (recorded by Murray as Bocock) was born in Wollombi, NSW in 1871, a son to Timothy and Mary Bowcock. When he enlisted in Brisbane in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry he noted he was single and from Wollumbi, NSW.
After his service he returned to NSW and in 1905 he married Clara J. Trigg in Sydney. Prior to his death in 1948 he and his wife had resided in Yarrawa, NSW where they farmed for 14 years.
